Peace is a state of tranquility. It is a place where we are not disturbed by any troubling forces. It’s a place of quiet calm.
In the King James Version, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
The world very rarely ever has peace. Numerous wars are going on at one time or another. Countries are often left in disarray. People are left without homes or resources. People die. When there is peace, it never lasts. Wars rage on for centuries and will continue because of man’s pride and thirst for power.
Can we have true peace in a world that doesn’t give it?
The only way to have real and lasting peace is through Jesus Christ. Jesus is called The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus says He can give us peace that lasts. It is a peace the world can never give us. When He spoke to His disciples, He told them not to be troubled or afraid. He knew His eventual crucifixion was coming and that would lead them to doubt their faith. He also knew they would go through suffering for His name’s sake. There would be much opposition against them because they belonged to Jesus.
If you belong to Jesus, many will oppose you too. The world and its systems hate Jesus. It is blind to the true peace He brings.
How can you grab hold of this wonderful peace Jesus gives?
1. Pray all the time. Have an open dialogue with the Lord and don’t be afraid to tell Him what you need. He wants to hear from you.
2. Read and study the Bible. Meditate on it and keep it close to you. It is your defense against the enemy.
3. Obey the Lord. Reading His Word is one thing but living by it is where the true peace comes from.
4. Follow the Spirit’s leading. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in the right direction and bear good fruit for the Lord.
5. Abide in Jesus and let Him abide in you. Putting Him on the throne of your heart and making Him the center of your life will bless you with abundant peace.
You can have real peace in a turbulent and troubled world.
